I am automatically drawn to the picture of the mountains. If not for my family, I would love to live in the middle of nowhere... to just BE there. "There is pleasure in the pathless woods, There is rapture on the lonely shore, There is society where none intrudes, By the deep sea and the music in its roar; I love not man the less, but Nature more." — Lord Byron

My choice would be the ocean...sitting under an umbrella sipping on something fruity watching my 4 year old daughter building sand castles & collecting shells, while my husband & I take turns sleeping in the shade. Sounds like the perfect day to me!

NYC. The pace, the diversity of people, the ability to go anywhere almost instantly in the city, the variety of things to do and the closeness of remote places far away. I did the ocean and the snow and neither made me happy. Cities have always made me happy.

I'd like to be as far away from this mess as possible... Yeah, that's where. : )

Personally, I'd rather be in NYC. That's my dream trip and I've never been - YET!!! And if you're not there, I'd take anyplace where you're playing a live show. Pretty sure that's never going to happen here in Idaho! I love the pictures though and could honestly be in any of those places!!!

The beach, no contest. As a Northern Calif gal that move to KY, i am so longing for N Cal, it hurts. I use to live only a few short miles from the coast and miss it something terrible. The beautiful sunset, ocean smells and if you combine the beach with the redwood forrest it is a incredible unforgettable place to be. On the beach at sunset with a someone special, bonfire going on, friends, cool drinks and Rayn playing songs.... niceeeeeee ahhhhh. YO

Picture 3, the sunset...why? because it looks like the best closure to an end of a day. Stress free is how i like it and that setting speaks beauty to me, it looks easy.

I love a city because I can be by myself and yet never feel alone. I will have a chance to do that in New York this summer and I am really looking forward to it. I love the beach, but Santa Cruz is more my thing than Southern California. It's easier to write there. Cape Cod is nice too. Right this minute I'm in Paris. There's nowhere else I'd rather be. :)
Fan_327's picture

All three: New York because i was fall in love with this city. The mountains because it is the best place to take a walk with my dog. And th beach because i can let everything behind me.
Fan_394's picture

My choice would be the beach. The mountains are beautiful and peaceful but there is something about sitting and listening to the water roll up onto the beach that leaves me with such a relaxed and calm feeling. I'm pretty sure if I lived on a beach where I could watch the sunset everyday and here the ocean I would never be anything but content with life.

I am most happy at our lake where it is peaceful, serene and beautiful. I love to sit on the porch and stare out at the water which seems to go on forever. I also love that time doesn't matter there, its perfectly ok to have a cold beer at noon, and none of todays distractions exist out there. Nice pics. The mountains look beautiful.

Beautiful song.. and...might I say since I live in what I consider one of the most beautiful locations in the world, I would say the beach scene! Not only is it lovely in the summer but it is gorgeous all year round...a perfect place to sit and ponder by yourself, with your loved one, or friends. Might I add, is it not gorgeous around our parts this time a year (trees, nature, etc.)! Jillian

Tough choice NYC to talk to you :), or the beach when it's warm, mountians during a snowfall. Maybe it will be talking to you at the beach way after sunset. Now about the warm part... ~P~

Where would I rather be? There's a fantastic community in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains right outside Asheville North Carolina. A week after my husband passed away, my son and I escaped to the Biltmore Inn just to get away from everything .. to have time on our own to grieve. I fell in love with the area immediately. As soon as I win the lottery I'll be buying a home in the heart of the Biltmore Forest ... someplace to get lost in when I need to be away from everything. I'm somewhat of a hermit since my husband died. I enjoy the solitude. Now .. a question for you. Do you read our comments? AND ... you're always asking us to read your thoughts. Do you ever venture out to read OUR blogs? You might find inspiration in the stories your fans have to tell.

I think it’s great to wanna visit the whole world, especially when you are 18, an age of self-discovery. But even if you think you have discovered yourself just because you got old, that shouldn’t be a reason to live in only one place. Nothing should be a reason for that. Nothing should get in the way. The world is huge for you to waste it with your absence. I mean, you got a life, it’s kinda short, you got lots of means of transportation, so it’s absurd to limit a space. I say I’d live anywhere, ‘cause I love all seasons, be it cold or hot. It would be so previsible and convenient for me to say I’d rather live at the beach, ‘cause I live in a stressing city, as much as a country person dreams for the “evolution” of the city. I’m 19, I haven't traveled a lot yet, but enough to say every place has its good and bad side. We gotta just enjoy them all…

I def. would rather be near the ocean. The peace and tranquility that the calm seas bring to me is kinda embarasing. That and I have always loved the water. Its just one of those.. callings I guess. It makes me feel good to sit on the beach and just watch the water roll up onto the beach. It eats away at everything so slowly. Its beautiful but its deadly.

I love cities, but this says it best: What is it about Mountains and Seas? On my journey I beheld a mountain so wide and vast, it took my breath My eyes upward I felt so small Surely there is a Creator. In Montauk, I turned a corner There was the ocean Splashing foam painted a seascape there, between two buildings flowing like my tears The peace I had been looking for seemed possible now. What is it about Mountains and Seas?

I'd take the beach any day! Right now lying on a beack at sun down would be heaven on earth. To feel the support of warm sand beneath your body, the cool water caress your toes and the last warm rays of sunshine kiss your face......
Fan_424's picture

It would depend on the mood I think. Some days I just want noise and colour and lights and music and people but most days i would just like to have peace and the sound of the ocean.... so the beach it is.

May I pick all three? Coming from Madrid I miss the fuzz and buzz of the city. I'm very comfortable were I live (NoVa) but I miss walking and getting lost in the streets... I love the outdoors, my dream is to retire and hike the AT. But that picture with the big slope also reminds me of the adventorous me that is too lazy to do anything, every winter I tell myself that I will learn to snowboard, and the snow melts waiting for me. And the beach is just part of me. As a child I spent many beautiful summer vacations at our beach house so the beach always reminds me of the good all days. By the ocean there are no bad memories.

# 1 is home. I live in the near north of Canada, lakes, woods and wildlife. I wouldn't mind being slighty more secluded, seriously. Muskoka is cottage country, the population swells in the summer and while I love that aspect it does get tiresome by the end of the season. Prince Edward Island - is my number #2. The island is beautiful viusally, but it's the people that make it magic. I spent some time on the island during my 'influential' early twenties and it's amazing how a place can steal your heart like a first love. I'm still searching for #3. I'd pick Mongolia, I want to live in a Yurt. I just need to visit so I can 'officially' pick it as #3.

I have lived my whole live in New York City. There are so many memories here that have shaped who I am as a person that I cant fathom wanting to be anywhere else than where all the people I care about are, which = home! New york has it all, the relaxing, serene beach and if you travel an hour or two, beautiful snow covered mountains! Plus its the first place I got to experience Ryan Star live :)

tough choice. i assume the first picture is NYC. i stayed there for 2 weeks when i was in the US. i think is the most amazng place. there is so much to do, the people are all very different which i think is good thing and the art. the art was incredible, from the muscians busking on the sidewalk to the museums. i can understand why you love it so much ryan. that would be my first choice. second would be the beach. i am lucky enough to live near the beach here in melbourne and i have spent many a night watching the sun set over the water. when ever i have a dificult decision to make i head to the beach at sunset. i sit on the jetty with my feet in the water and watch the sun change through the entire spectrum of color. in that spot i made the choice to enlist and serve my country, it is also the spot i went to to find cumfort after the death of my grand father. but who can forget the mountains. there is almost nothing better than carving up fresh power with just you, your friends and your snowbaord. if you are interested i have a couple of photos of the sun setting on my website. feel free to check them out. they are not as inspiring as yours though.

Campfire. At the beach. With guitars. Friends...family...a bottle wine? Good 'ol classic rock tunes, paradise for me...

right now, i'm in the mood for the beach. i love how it can shut you up. kinda like the stars. you just sit there looking and watching silently. you have no choice but to listen to your own thoughts. i love that. so, beach it is.

Take me to the snow covered mountains, It looks so crisp and peaceful, I could take a moment to breathe and think. Lucky you to have been there.

Can I get some photography tips? I need to practice more. Right now would have to be picture 3. Life is so stressful now that a sunset on the beach with some drinks and snacks sounds very appealing. What would top it off is a fullmoon to boot. peace and rockon O L2

I would rather not choose one and prefer to be all those places all the time. All those places energize me at different segments of my life. NYC is filled with so much energy - just breathing the air conjures up a thousand ideas. However, the city can be draining and the beach is what you need to re-energize and search for deeper feelings. After a week of soul finding with sand between your toes, snowboarding in the mountains stimulates the adreneline by taking risks and living on the edge.
