I close my eyes and I see so many things. Walking out of a world class recording studio and feeling so grateful. Waking up to sirens to the most horrific day New York has ever seen. Laughing to tears with the humor that my producer and drummer offer. The funerals of both Greg and Peter’s mothers. Recording “I Know Where You Are” completely live. Singing “The Scientist’s Canvas” completely naked. The fantasy music world in studio A and right out the door, CNN on all day reminding us what is real. Knowing what is important in life. Flying to London and the whole band sleeping on my sister’s floor while we mix the album. Recording 15 five-year-olds in my basement singing the words “we are ready.” Sleeping in an NYU dorm. Randy and his video camera. The anthrax scare down the street. Driving from Long Island with all of the other commuters. Rehearsing with the string players. Being blown away with what I was hearing. Convincing the record company that “Live Happy, Live With Anorexia” was good enough to be on the album. Greg throwing a Poland Spring jug at Justin. I close my eyes and I see 4 friends who worked as hard as they could to get to this point. A classic album created by a band that deserved to be making music on this level.
