Woo poll about people i don’t truly have an opinion on because in australia we’re sheltered from the world!!! Not really but american news isn’t big here. But WOO too good quality mp3 instead of 96kbps things
I don’t normally get involved in political debates - because it leads to such heated discussions. It becomes very personal. However - I can not let one more day go by without saying how embarrassed I am as a woman that Sarah Palin is representing the United States. While she may be a very nice person … a truly great Hockey mom … she is not presenting an intelligent face to the world. I fear that if McCain wins this election .. Sarah Palin will become the face of American women. And that is NOT the image I want portrayed of me. I am an intelligent and strong woman - I thank the suffragettes who fought so hard to advance Woman’s Rights - and all the women before me who have fought so hard for equal rights and to break free from the stereotypical flaky mom image. Palin puts all of their efforts to shame. I’m sorry if I’ve offended anyone … but it’s how I feel. I do not want this woman representing ME.
Such a heated topic, Ryan! Are you looking to get us into your fight night?lol
After watching the debate last night I have to say I agree somewhat agree with willo above. Although Sarah Palin appeals in physical appearance and personality to the general public. We are not looking for someone to win a personality contest but run our country and change the downward spiral our country is heading. In my opinion Sarah Palin appeared too naive to run the country and almost close to a “country bumkin” during the debate last night. She continually dodged questions and changed the subject either to what she did in Alaska or how her family has struggled as much as other middle class families. I cant see how she can compare herself to poor middle class people in which every penny goes to mortage payments or rent, food, medical or other household bills. People like who I work with every day in which I have to find every means necessary sometimes to find a way for them to pay for their medication. Its one thing to run Alaska but another to run the United States which if something happenened to McCain she would be doing. Im not sure Im ready for someone so naive to take on that role.
Ryan, what an absolutely great thing to do! Thank you (again) so much regardless of who one chooses to vote for-the fact is we have the option and we are blessed for that! Spreading the message and giving people another way to register to vote AND share their voice just shows another way you are giving back!
With that said, do you remember, Madonna wearing the American Flag telling us to Rock the Vote… priceless! (SIGH) Memories..
First, thanks Ryan for this.
I don’t see why everyone’s knocking Palin. She gave a much more enthusiastic debate, and she was extremely articulate and composed under the circumstances. Biden gave me a bad impression. His delivery was sooo boring and he didn’t seem to give much detail in comparison to Palin. He was also kind of rude with his smiling and laughing at inappropriate moments when Palin was ansering questions. He was almost mocking her and making fun, as if the debate was some game and Palin was just a pretty lady. He almost didn’t take her seriously. Very rude!! Palin had more class and showed people that she’s more than a pretty face, but rather a serious contender who can hold her own and doesn’t crumble under pressure. GOOD FOR HER!!!
I don’t find winking during a vice presidential debate to be at all appealing for anyone. Can you imagine the response if a man were to wink all throughout a debate?
Also, her scripted responses were gross misrepresentations of the facts. Most important to me was her gross misrepresentation of Obama’s healthcare plan. His plan is nowhere near socialized medicine!!! He has simply proposed a way for all citizens to buy into a government sponsored plan if they choose. The majority of us would continue to have our private employer sponsored health plans. Also, Obama is not proposing a requirement that all people have health insurance, only children - a move I find unneccesary at worst. As long as there is affordable insurance available, there is no need because it is already considered child abuse to fail to seek medical treatment for your child.
Compare this plan to McCains plan to give $5000 tax break to those who purchase their own insurance - a dollar ammount that would barely cover 1/2 the year for many and does nnothing to address the problem of those uninsured due to “preexisting conditions” Plus he wants to tax my employee medical benefits? Why should one person get a break on something another person is taxed on?
sorry that sort of went away from Biden and Palin. but she pissed me off with that major misinformation.
I question any parent (mother or father) who would make the decision to take on such a time-consuming job during a time when her children need extra attention. Teen pregnancy is difficult enough without one’s mother taking a position that would put all the details of your life on the front of every paper. Also, if she is to reach her goal of becoming vice president, she will either be away from, or causing major disruption in the life of her special needs child during some of his most formative years. I just can not comprehend the thought process.
I agree with Shannon…
….I’m just disgusted with the way things are right now and hopefully whoever wins will do something to help fix/change the mess we are in.
The belief that we can only have Republican or Democrat is strangling America. Vote your conscience, whether that’s Democrat, Republican, Green, Libertarian or what have you. Vote for people, not parties. A party cannot empathize with any individual, only people can. Don’t vote Republican or Democrat because only one of those “have a chance of winning.” No matter what the media tries to tell you, you are NOT limited to only two parties, and this particular commentor will be voting for neither in the official election, even if he can’t here.

I quoted this because my mom and I were having a discussion about this today. My brother has Downs and I reminded her how sick he used to get when he was little, and she said, “Yes, but we shouldn’t shelter them. They need to be exposed to what’s out there.” But my argument was taking him to the store and exposing him to the germs there is one thing, taking him to huge conferences with hundreds of people when he is only 3 days old is quite another.
I know my mom likes Palin because she believes Palin will fight for people with special needs, but I just have to agree with Shannon on this one.
Yeah, pretty sure I know who Uncle Sam is as well.
I completely agree with Uncle Sam and was going to post something very similar before reading his comment. I hate the Democrat vs. Republican war that goes on as much as I hate that people feel like they should be defined by those terms. People should support candidates and parties that they most identify with, not the ones the media shoves down our throats.

Just one question… are you asking who we think “won” or who we like better as a VP candidate? It won’t change my answer, but I’m curious.
BTW, it was awesome to hear that song again… yes, it’s sitting on my MP3 player but I don’t listen to it very often.
